Penguin Drop Caps Set: N-Z

Yesterday, I wrote about the first half of the Penguin Drop Caps collection: here's the second tranche of thirteen books.

If you haven't yet seen the Drop Caps collection, it's an A-Z of 26 books in hardback, with covers designed by Jessica Hische and Paul Buckley.

First half of the collection, A-M, reviewed here.

Penguin Drop Caps Set: A-M

There's an attractive set of Penguins available, an A-Z of hardbacks with covers designed by the notable Jessica Hische and Penguin Art Director Paul Buckley.

If you're looking for a Christmas gift for someone, these are definitely a good idea - excellent writing and a cover that lifts them out of the ordinary.

Shamefacedly, I have to confess that I haven't read them all; don't tell Caffeine and Chapters, a book blogger with a wider range than I.

Ten Best Agatha Christie Poirot Books

Hercule Poirot, the Belgian detective, is one of Agatha Christie's most memorable creations. He's an unlikely hero, being small and gentlemanly and not the sort to get his hands dirty. Despite that, he's been catching criminals for many years and doesn't seem to get any older or less popular.

Poirot has appeared in plays, TV shows, movies, played by a wide range of actors. Most of them have been a success because they have behind them the writing of Agatha Christie, an amazing author of crime fiction.

Five Favourite Books For A Desert Island

A challenge: describe five favourite books to be marooned with on a desert island. Should be easy - books in every room, on every surface, on most of the floors ...

Three hours later, about 200 books have been through my mind and been rejected. Too short, too easy, too un-desert-islandish. Eventually settle on five and start writing. Finish number four and the doubts creep in. Delete number four and rethink. Got it!
